S.T.A.R. Film Discussion Series (Racial Equity/Social Justice)
Join student leaders from the YVC Stand Together Against Racism youth initiative to discuss thought-provoking films about race. Watch the movie (or read the book) prior to the virtual discussion. Students and adults are welcome to join us!
February 23, 2022. We will be discussing the film 42 - an inspiring biopic about the two years in which baseball legend Jackie Robinson broke the sport's color barrier.
March 23, 2022. We will be discussing the film Hidden Figures – a film based on the inspiring true story of three brilliant African-American women who worked at NASA in the 1950s and '60s as "human computers" -- making calculations and contributions that helped launch the manned spaceflight program.
April 27, 2022. We will be discussing the film Just Mercy - a fact-based courtroom drama that tackles the subjects of racism and the death penalty.
