YVC Canstructure Contest

What is CANSTRUCTURE? Canstructure is a structure building competition to fight hunger. Teams of Berks County youth, mentored by artists, architects, engineers, or contractors compete in a contest to build incredible structures made entirely from cans of food.  Each team is responsible for holding its own food drive prior to the event to collect the cans for its structure and all canned food will be donated to the Greater Berks Food Bank following the competition.

Youth Volunteer Corps of Reading will hold its 3rd annual Canstructure competition on March 7, 2020 at the Berkshire Mall. This year's theme is Inspire Kindness.

There is no cost to students for this contest - please support Canstructure and YVC of Reading's year-round programming by making a donation here or texting the wording Inspire Kindness to 44-321.

Last year, over 170 students on 15 different teams participated which ultimately resulted in 22,922 lbs of food being donated to Helping Harvest (formerly the Greater Berks Food Bank)!

Registration is closed for the 2020 contest.  See our Canstructure FlyerRegistration FormRules and the Itinerary for more information.

Decanstructure will take place the following Saturday, March 14, 2020 from 7am-9am - where we will gather to stack and move the food. We need many hands to help take cans to the Helping Harvest Food Bank. Sign up here
